Meta Bright wins concrete supply contract for Sabah ore terminal project from China's CCCC

KUALA LUMPUR (March 4): Meta Bright Group Bhd (KL:MBRIGHT) said its 70%-owned subsidiary Expogaya Sdn Bhd has secured a materials supply contract worth about RM15.51 million.

In a statement, the group said the contract was awarded to Expogaya’s wholly owned unit, Jesselton Concrete Sdn Bhd, by China Communications Construction Company (M) Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of China Communications Construction Co Ltd (CCCC).

CCCC is a Fortune Global 500-listed infrastructure group and the world’s largest port design and construction company.

Under the agreement, Jesselton Concrete will serve as the priority supplier of various grades of ready-mixed concrete for the ESTEEL Ore Terminal Project in Sabah. The company will also manage delivered duty paid logistics, assuming responsibility for freight and transportation risks to the project site.

Meta Bright executive director of corporate and strategic planning Derek Phang Kiew Lim said the contract strengthens the group’s order visibility in Sabah’s growing industrial and infrastructure sectors.

“Winning a supply mandate from a contractor of CCCC’s calibre is a meaningful validation of our operational capabilities in Sabah,” he said. “We remain focused on disciplined execution and converting East Malaysia’s infrastructure demand into sustainable, recurring earnings for our shareholders.”

Meta Bright, formerly known as Eastland Equity Bhd, is involved in building materials, leasing and financing, hospitality, property, energy, and investment properties.

Shares of Meta Bright were unchanged at 13 sen at Wednesday’s noon break, valuing the diversified group at RM352.81 million.
