Meta Bright expands energy arm with 51% Bumidotearth acquisition

META Bright Group Bhd is strengthening its energy division with the acquisition of a 51% stake in Bumidotearth Sdn Bhd via its wholly-owned unit Meta Bright Energy Sdn Bhd, marking a shift towards a fully integrated energy solutions platform.

The deal enables Meta Bright to internalise engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) capabilities, allowing it to deliver end-to-end energy efficiency solutions across development, execution, and maintenance stages.

Bumidotearth specialises in HVAC optimisation using Dynamic Control Drive (DCD) technology and IoT-based Enerlytics dashboards. 

Its systems have demonstrated energy savings of 40% to 80% in pilot deployments at retail sites, with a reported payback period of about 2.2 years.

The company currently has RM4.1 million worth of ongoing projects and a pipeline exceeding RM50 million across commercial, hospitality, healthcare and institutional segments.

The acquisition also comes with a profit guarantee of RM1.5 million over three years, implying a valuation of about four times earnings.

Meta Bright said the move positions it to scale a recurring, higher-margin energy optimisation business amid rising demand for energy efficiency solutions in commercial buildings. — TMR
